Description
Panelists will discuss overcoming challenges in biogeography and addressing ways into increase diversity, equity, and inclusion in the field. This panel will bring together faculty and students with varying amounts of experience to discuss how we navigate biogeography, include more diversity in the field, and support underrepresented individuals. Discussion topics may include, but are not limited to: overcoming challenges in biogeography; preparing for, experiencing, negotiating, or reflecting on experiences in the field, classroom, and laboratories; bringing feminist geographic methods into biogeography; providing more opportunities to support minority students; working with NGOs and other organizations to increase awareness in biogeography, and increasing diversity in the types of students, faculty, and individuals in biogeography. Members from other sectors of geography are welcome to contribute and join in on the conversation.
