Description:
Within the processes of neoliberalization, in its various forms in the city (from zero tolerance policies, gentrification and displacement, austerity urban governance, etc.) care can take various forms that shape urban geographies, while their emotional, sensory and bodily aspects can be explored through affect in relation to gender, race, class, sexuality and (dis)ability. In this session the affective geographies of the neoliberal and post-fordist city are explored through queer and feminist approaches of care in the forms of: the emotional and affective geographies of sisterhood between reproductive labourers in fertility clinics in India (Bhattacharjee), affective spatialized practices of care through mapped in participant-led walks-as maps of queer contours in Glasgow, Scotland (Fannin), creative collective notions of care through the alternative ways of feminist protest during the pandemic in Buenos Aires, Argentina (Bertelli), as well as queer craft products as queer urban infrastructure through gay men's role in the performing of the city (Andrucki).
